Hello Heels, Flats And Boots
As fall approaches, we ditch the sandals and say hello to heels, flats and boots for a few months to keep our feet and toes warm and stylish. But how many pairs does one average woman need to stay fashion focused and comfortable when fall arrives and the weather turns colder? It’s not so much quantity but having the right high heel, flat sole and a perfect boot for every occasion. The Heel This fall sees the return of the chunky heel which can be a blessing for women who avoid four inch stilettos like a person blowing their nose on the subway. The heel is thicker which gives it a larger surface area and gives more support to a woman’s posture. Fall 2012 sees a variety of heel heights and the lower versions add a touch of glam to the vintage look. Designer Vince Camuto has given us the ‘Verona’ style, a lush mix of velvet bows and shiny chunky heels. Proenza Schouler offered her take of open toed chunky boots in her NY fall collection. In the same vein, Prada and Miu Miu also paraded chunky heels down the runways.
The Flat Goodbye brogues and flat pumps, this fall will see the return of the smoking slipper and capped Parisian style pump. The smoking slipper is a similar to a man’s loafer, though draped in opulent fabrics like velvet and suede with jewel colourings like purple, forest green and burgundy will have a touch of feminine about them. They won’t be strangers to animal print, metallic uppers, glitter and studs. The capped flat pump will be a structured number with bows and buckles. The dark cap gives a Chanel edge without the suit. This style will also spread to the high heel pump that is being dragged back from the 80’s era of power dressing. The Boot Wherever you go this fall, the ankle boot is the foot attire of choice. Whether it has western style tassles, motorbike chic studs or is a flat footed 60’s number, there will be an ankle boot for every outfit. As usual fall’s earthy color palette will be the safe choice for an every day boot. But for the more adventurous lady, a leopard skin print, golden or nude boot will be bang on trend.
